
Cathy Cassady Corbin
Cathy Cassady Corbin is a retired English teacher, currently serving as an editor, from Morehead, Kentucky. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and Morehead State University. Cathy is the editor of Martin Himler's autobiography, The Making of an American: The Autobiography of a Hungarian Immigrant, Appalachian Entrepreneur, and OSS Officer, a book that Briane Turley has observed ranks alongside Julianna Puskas’s Ties that Bind, Ties that Divide and András Ludanyi’s My American Roadtrip as “must read” assignments in any American Immigration Studies course.
Corbin has contributed articles about Martin Himler and Himlerville to two books, Hidden Heroes of the Big Sandy Valley and True Christmas Stories from the Heart of Appalachia, published by the Jesse Stuart Foundation. Cathy and her husband, Tom Corbin, are Co-Coordinators of the Martin County Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc.'s Himler Project, which aims to restore Himler’s Beauty, Kentucky home.
