Róbert Péter

Associate Professor, Department of English at the University of Szeged, Hungary

Róbert Péter, an associate professor in the Department of English at the University of Szeged, Hungary, holds master's degrees in English and Mathematics. He completed his MA thesis at the University of Oxford for the University of Szeged. He earned his Ph.D. degree in 2007 and habilitation in 2017. As a founding (reviews) editor, he contributed to the Digitális Bölcsészet (Digital Humanities) journal, the Journal for Research into Freemasonry and Fraternalism, and the Religion and Society in Central and Eastern Europe peer-reviewed journals. Róbert has received Fulbright and British Academy Visiting Fellowships. He served as the general editor of the five-volume primary resource collection titled British Freemasonry, 1717-1813 (New York: Routledge, 2016).

In addition, Róbert is the founding head of the Digital Humanities Laboratory at the University of Szeged. He is also a founding member of the Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH) Bibliographical Data Working Group. In addition, Róbert leads the AVOBMAT (Analysis and Visualization of Bibliographic Metadata and Texts) text mining project for which his team received the Innovation Prize from the university.  AVOBMAT will soon be available through the German social sciences and humanities research infrastructure. Dr Péter has lectured at many European universities and in the US at West Virginia University and Florida State University.
